Spring 2012:  "SACRED RHYTHMS"      Led by   director Nick Page Energizing rhythms play such an important part in the music of the world - the music, the drumming, the dancing, the chanting – hypnotic rhythms creating sacred transcendent joy. This is what our spring concert is about. It will feature movements from Misa Campesina Nicaragüense and Milton Nascimento’s Brazilian Missa Dos Quilomboss. Because there are several songs in Portuguese, Spanish, and Yuroba, I have invited Adrianna Swann, Dean Stevens, and Louise Grasmere (respectively) to lift our hearts. Our band will feature four amazing percussionists: our old friends Stanley Swann, Linda Shoemaker, and Louise Grasmere with special guest Andres Espinnoza who will share three sacred songs from Cuba. As always, the star of the show will be the Mystic Chorale singing a new setting of Psalm 42 in English and Hebrew, an uplifting South African Hosannah, and Vivaldi’s famous Gloria, culminating with a rousing reggae song celebrating “a world culture of peace.”     Rehearsals begin March 13, 2012 for 10 weeks
